Abstract

Calvin’s error consists in normatively claiming to an essentialist anthropology of original sin, in order to justify its exclusive reading of the Bible and the theological loci of soteriology, christology, pneumatology, harmatology, ecclesiology, eschatology, etc. Calvin’s philosophical-theological anthropology uses the idea of imago Dei to substantiate his soteriological dualism by opposing fallen nature and spiritual salvation, so as to justify the Calvinist critique of humanism.
