Theology, Pluralism and Ecumenical Otherness

Abstract

The text presents the research results on theological aspects of pluralism with emphasis on the theme of otherness, taking into account the critical data that the fundamental openings for the “other”, with the need to effectively consider the differentials of power that mark social and political relations. Methodologically, the following steps were given: (i) analysis of the need for identification of the dimensions of alterity from the explicitization of the differentials of power marking the processes of interculturality and the different relationships, including Interfaith dialogue; (ii) expliciting the biblical notion of otherness from the basic relationships of theological anthropology that constitute
the human being; (iii) indication of the openness to the dialogue and the interactive practice that the Trinitarian vision of the Christian faith offers, even for democratic and participatory social practices and ecclesial visions marked by communion, and (iv) an identification of the value of a mystic view of the alterity that reinforces utopian perspectives and donors of meaning for the social groups.
