Not yet accomplished: “Nostra Aetate” and its perspectives for a Christian vision of Judaism

This article analyses the relationship between Christianity and Judaism, according to the Declaration of Christianity with the non-Christian religions, entitled “Nostra Aetate”, of the II Vatican Ecumenical Council, of 1965, in four points. The first studies the history of the elaboration of the Declaration during the works of the Vatican II, addressing the pressures made by people and groups. The secind point exposes the most significant contents of the Declaration under study. The third point exposes the most significant contents of the Declaration under study. The third point analyses the effect of “Nostra Aetate” and its importance for interreligious dialogue. The fourth and last point outlines the fundamental lines for a Christian theology of Judaism. It finalizes by stating that the Declaration still has a verification time ahead of it.Downloads
