Abstract

Neurophysiological and neuropathological findings pointed out evidences for two visual pathways: the ventral pathway, responsible for processing the perception of objects and their features, and the dorsal pathway, responsible for processing the perception of object locations and the actions towards them. Experimental researches on geometrical visual illusions sometimes indicate that the discrepancies between visual perception and action are consequences of the functional dissociation between the ventral and dorsal pathways, but sometimes they failed to indicate that these discrepancies are actually consequences of this dissociation. A revision of theoretical points tried to explain and to embrace theses discrepancies among researches.
