The object of this study is the Fronteira do Sul radio, from its foundation in 1940 up until its dissolution in 1975. The broadcaster was, for its existence, the only radio in the city of São Borja, in the western border of Rio Grande do Sul. Its trajectory is memorable, especially with the association of ex-president João Goulart, one of the main shareholders of the radio. Fronteira do Sul was severely repressed during the Civil-Military Dictatorship in Brazil. Even after the donation of all João Goulart’s shares to employees, the repression never realized the ending of the association. Thus, the objective of this study is to evidence the acting of the broadcaster, which resisted to the misdemeanors from the repression and the events that led to the closing of its doors, as well as highlight the radio’s history, its formation and some of the partners/employees’ history and memory.
