Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The text follows the journal's formatting requirements according to the "Guidelines for Authors section.
  • It is mandatory to fill in the Article Cover, with the article information. This document must be forwarded separately at the time of submission.

Author Guidelines

  • The journal adopts the updated reference standard of ABNT (ABNT - General Rules).
  • Files submitted for submission are in open text format (Word).
  • The text must contain title, abstracts and keywords in the languages indicated by the journal.
  • In the case of texts originally written in a foreign language, they should contain title, abstract and keywords in Portuguese and other languages of the magazine's interface.
  • The author must keep his registration profile updated and, for submission of a new text, fill out the information items below under “Conditions for Submission
  • Information about the authors should contain the following data: full name with the correct spelling; ORCID (see: orcid.org); affiliation: institution, city, state and country (in no case should affiliations be accompanied by the authors' titles or mini-curricula). These, when present, should be published separately from affiliations as author's notes). email; complete physical postal address of the corresponding author, which may be the institutional one, provided at the end of the article; research funding source (if any); potential conflicts of interest (if any).
  • Optionally, the authors may indicate at the end of the article: a) acknowledgements; b) mini curriculum: academic and professional training.
  • The place of figures and tables should be indicated in the text, and these should be sent in separate file, with program identification and version.
  • The bibliographic information is correct and in accordance with the standard adopted by the journal.
  • The contribution must be original and unpublished and may not be evaluated for publication by another journal; if not, justify in “Comments to the editor” when submitting the text in the portal.
  • Publication of papers is subject to approval by reviewers. The originality of the treatment of the theme, the consistency and rigor of the approach and its contribution to the thematic line of the publication are taken into account. The names of the reviewers will remain confidential, and the names of the authors before the reviewers will also be omitted.
  • Spontaneous submission of articles and subsequent acceptance for publication automatically implies the assignment of the rights of the first publication to the Journal. Intellectual copyright remains with the author. Any subsequent reproduction, by any means, may be made only by prior agreement between the Journal and the author and with proper citation of the source.
  • The concepts issued in the works are the sole responsibility of the authors, not necessarily reflecting the opinion of the Editorial Board or Editorial Council.
  • The opinions, positions and content expressed in the published works are the sole responsibility of the authors, not necessarily reflecting the position of the Journal, the Scientific Committee, the Graduate Program in Social Work or PUCRS.
  • Authors whose papers are published will be prevented from republishing in the journal within 24 months.
  • Failure to comply with any item of the standards may make it impossible for the contribution to remain in the evaluation and publication process.
  • In terms of form, articles must be typed in Microsoft Word for Windows or a compatible text editor, with a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 20 pages, in A4 paper size, font size 12, single-spaced, including figures, tables and references. Reviews should be between 2 and 4 pages.

The journal accepts the submission of the following text types:

  • articles and essays: should address current and comprehensive topics that contribute to the production of knowledge, presenting applied studies and research or providing opinions and reflections on the topics that are of interest to the area and the journal. For those who present research results and contemplate direct data collection, it is necessary to present proof of approval of the Research Ethics Committee;
  • practice reports: they should present analysis of experiences that contemplate intervention processes, procedures and case studies theoretically grounded and that are of interest to the Social Service and are in accordance with the editorial policy and the themes prioritized by the journal;
  • reviews: must provide a commented summary of the production that allows the reader to have an overview of the work complemented by a critical reading and by indications on characteristics and possible uses of the reviewed publication. National book reviews will be accepted.

The magazine does not accept:

  • collaborations whose content expresses advertising of any nature or containing prejudiced ideas, reserving the right to demand respect for ethics and scientific rigor in the treatment of the topics addressed;
  • works resulting from productions made by graduates without the participation of at least one of the authors with a minimum of a master's degree;
  • works with co-authorship of more than 3 people. When productions are carried out by teams with more than three participants, the relative credits can be attributed by mentioning the collaborators in a footnote.
