Abstract

This work aimed at, identifying species of anuran amphibians in an area on the campus of the Lutheran University of Brazil (ULBRA), municipality of Canoas, Rio Grande do Sul. The work was conducted from October 2006 to May 2007. We found 12 species of frogs, distributed in four families: Bufonidae, Hylidae, Leptodactylidae and Leiuperidae. The habitat that showed the highest richness was permanent ponds (eight sp.), followed by the wetland (seven sp.). This study demonstrated the importance of natural areas, even when impacted, to the maintenance of regional diversity of frogs.
