Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The text follows the journal's formatting requirements according to the "Guidelines for Authors"found in the "Submissions" section.

Author Guidelines

  • The text must contain title, abstracts and keywords in the languages indicated by the journal. In the case of texts originally written in a foreign language, they should contain title,
  • Information about the authors should contain the following data: full name with the correct spelling; ORCID (see: orcid.org); affiliation: institution, city, state and country (in no case should affiliations be accompanied by the authors' titles or mini-curricula). These, when present, should be published separately from affiliations as author's notes). email; complete physical postal address of the corresponding author, which may be the institutional one, provided at the end of the article; research funding source (if any); potential conflicts of interest (if any).
  • Files submitted for submission must be in open text format (Word)
  • The journal adopts the updated reference standard of ABNT (ABNT - General Rules).
  • The author must keep his registration profile updated and, for submission of a new text, fill out the information items below under “Conditions for Submission”.
  • Optionally, the authors may indicate at the end of the article:
    • thanks to funding agencies and / or institutions;
    • mini curriculum: academic and professional training.
  • The place of figures and tables should be indicated in the text, and these should be sent in separate file, with program identification and version.
  • The bibliographic information is correct and in accordance with the standard adopted by the journal.
  • The contribution must be original and unpublished, and cannot be undergoing evaluation for publication by another journal; if not, justify in “Comments to the editor” when submitting the text in the portal.
  • Publication of papers is subject to approval by reviewers. The originality of the treatment of the theme, the consistency and rigor of the approach and its contribution to the thematic line of the publication are taken into account. The names of the reviewers will remain confidential, and the names of the authors before the reviewers will also be omitted.
  • Spontaneous submission of articles and subsequent acceptance for publication automatically implies the assignment of the rights of the first publication to the Journal. Intellectual copyright remains with the author. Any subsequent reproduction, by any means, may be made only by prior agreement between the Journal and the author and with proper citation of the source.
  • The concepts issued in the works are the sole responsibility of the authors, not necessarily reflecting the opinion of the Editorial Board or Editorial Council.

Rules for article submission:

  • Article title: in bold type, centralized, uppercase letters, with English translation. Extension: maximum of 3 (three) lines, single spacing between lines. Letter: Times New Roman, size 14.
  • The author's name, title and e-mail must not appear in the text. This information must be entered in the system at the time of submission. If the text has more than one author, it is necessary to include the same information, following the established order by the authors.

  • ABSTRACT: between 1.000 to 1.500 characters, single spacing between lines, containing three keywords. The abstract must be followed of an English version, also with three keywords (if the article is in another language, it must present the abstract in the original version, in addition to Portuguese and English). Letter: Times New Roman, size 11. Situated on the right margin of the text, justified.
  • Articles must contain between 15 and 20 pages, including bibliographic references and images (if applicable).
  • The images (JPEG, TIFF) must be inserted in the body of the work, containing title (upper part of the figure) and reference (located within the frame of the figure, at the bottom), letter Times New Roman, size 10.
  • Texts must be sent in Word format, with the following configuration in the body of the text:
    • Letter Times New Roman, size 12, space 1,5cm.
    • Margins must be 2,5 (top, bottom, left, right).
    • Direct quotations (in block): letter Times New Roman, size 11, located on the right margin of the page (with a 4,0 cm indentation) and separated by double space of the upper and lower paragraphs.
    • Simple space between paragraphs.
    • Indirect quotations (paraphrase): inserted, up to 4 (four) lines, in the body of the text and between quotation marks. Letter: Times New Roman, size 12.
    • Subtitles: Times New Roman letter, size 12, bold, uppercase located on the left margin of the page.
    • References must be made through the Autor-data system (THOMPSON, 2002, p. 75). The inclusion, will be permitted if necessary, of an explanatory note at the bottom of the page. A maximum of three explanatory notes per page will be allowed.
    • Explanatory notes must be indicated in the body of the text by Arabic numerals in ascending order and listed at the bottom of the page, in Times New Roman, size 10, with justified alignment and simple spacing between lines.
  • To format the articles, consult the following standards: ABNT NBR 6022/2018 - article in periodical technical and / or scientific publication; ABNT NBR 6028/2003, Summary; ABNT NBR 10520/2002 - Quotations; and ABNT NBR 6023/2018 - References. ABNT - General Rules

Rules for submission of reviews:

  • Title of the article: in bold, centralized, capital letters. Letter: Times New Roman, size 14.
  • Below the title, the right must appear, in this order: name of the author, title and email. If the text has more than one author, it is necessary to contain the same information, following the order established by the authors.
  • Reference of the work to be reviewed. Example: COLI, Jorge. How to study 19th century Brazilian art? São Paulo: Senac, 2005.
  • Reviews must contain between 5 and 8 pages.
  • The works to be reviewed cannot have more than two years of publication counting from the year of submission of the same to the magazine.
  • Texts must be sent in Word format, with the following configuration in the body of the text:
    • Times New Roman letter, size 12, space 1,5 cm.
    • Margins should be 2,5 (top, bottom, left, right).
    • Direct quotations (in block): Times New Roman letter, size 11, located on the right margin of the page (with a 4,0 cm indentation) and separated by double space of the upper and lower paragraphs.
    • Simple space between paragraphs.

Dossier

This section is composed of unpublished articles, appropriate to the thematic area of the magazine and the referred dossier. The topic may be proposed by any member of the Editorial Board and other interested researcher (s), with doctoral degree concluded or in progress. The proposal must be duly justified and related to the concentration area of the Postgraduate Program in History at PUCRS. After accepting the proposal, the organizers will be responsible for monitoring the evaluation process of the articles, as well as the final composition of the Dossier.
NOTE: when submitting an article for this section, the author must correctly select the chosen dossier.

Characteristics of the Section:

  • Attach cover sheet.
  • Texts with up to three authors are accepted, with master's or doctor's degree. Doctorate degrees in progress is also accepted.
  • Maximum 20 pages.
  • The articles submitted to this section, in addition to the approval of the Editorial Team and the reviewers, will also be subject to prior approval by the Dossier organizer (s).

Artigos

This section consists of unpublished articles, appropriate to the thematic area of the journal. The submission of articles is subject to the prior approval of the Editorial Team, having as criterion the adequacy of the text to the editorial project of the journal. Being approved at this stage, the article is evaluated by at least two anonymous external reviewers, in the double-blind peer review system. If reviews are requested by reviewers and the editor, more than one evaluation round is carried out. Final acceptance depends on the effectiveness, by the author (s), of the changes indicated and the final approval by the Editorial Team.

Characteristics of the Section:

  • Attach cover sheet.
  • Texts with up to three authors are accepted, with degrees at different academic levels in History and subject areas. In the case of a graduate student, the author must have co-authorship with a minimum master's degree.
  • Maximum 20 pages.
  • Each article may contain images, tables and/or graphs, duly identified, according to the rules of the ABNT (Brazilian Association of Technical Standards).

Interview

This section consists of interviews with researchers/historians of relevance to the thematic area of the journal. Interviews shall be a maximum of ten pages long.

Characteristics of the Section:

  • Attach cover sheet.
  • Texts with up to three authors are accepted, with a minimum of master's degree or unconcluded master's degree in partnership with doctoral students and/or doctors.
  • Maximum 20 pages.

Reviews

The reviews must be of works published in the last two years for Portuguese language, and in the last four years for foreign language, with a maximum of four pages. Reviews of later published works and recently reissued will also be accepted, provided that their relevance to the historiographic field is justified.

  • Texts with up to three authors with a minimum graduate degree are accepted.
  • Maximum 20 pages.

Translation

The reviews must be of works published in the last two years for Portuguese language, and in the last four years for foreign language, with a maximum of four pages. Reviews of later published works and recently reissued will also be accepted, provided that their relevance to the historiographic field is justified.

  • Texts with up to three authors with a minimum graduate degree are accepted.
  • Maximum 20 pages.

Documents

Description and/or analysis of unpublished documents, which can be visual, sound, iconographic, artistic, oral, collection memorials, among others. Obs. Authorization for publication is mandatory.

  • Texts with up to three authors are accepted, with degrees at different academic levels in History and related areas. In the case of graduating students, they must be co-authored by an author with a minimum master's degree.
  • Maximum 20 pages.

The names and email addresses informed will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purposes or third parties.
