About the Journal

Navegações magazine was created as a result of joint projects developed between PUCRS PPGL and CLEPUL of the University of Lisbon. It was founded in 2007 by teachers Vania Pinheiro Chaves (CLEPUL / UL) and Maria Eunice Moreira (PUCRS) in order to disseminate matters of interest to Portuguese-language literatures and cultures, with a frequency of two issues per year. This proposal was developed from 2007 to 2018 under the coordination of the two publishers. In 2019, Alva Martinez Teixeiro (UL) and Paulo Ricardo Kralik Angelini (PUCRS) assumed the coordination.

In the TEST SECTION unpublished articles on Brazilian Literature, Portuguese Literature and African Literature are accepted. Articles that make comparisons or approximations between the literatures and cultures of these spaces can also be integrated.

  • Brazilian Literature: Essays that will address Brazilian works and authors of any period or genre will be accepted
  • Portuguese Literature: Essays on Portuguese works and authors of any period or genre will be accepted.
  • African Literature: Essays on works and authors from Portuguese-speaking countries of Africa and other former Portuguese colonies will be accepted.

Navegações magazine accepts articles preferably written in Portuguese.

The concepts and opinions contained in the works submitted to Navegações are the responsibility of their authors. In case of articles resulting from research with human beings, the number of the ethics committee approval protocol to which it was submitted must be informed in the body of the work.

Submitted texts are formally evaluated first by the editorial staff, who may request corrections and additions. Texts that do not fall within the scope of the Journal, that do not meet mandatory requirements or that are not adequate within the established deadline will be archived.

Once the admissibility of the submission has been verified, two opinions are requested from people specialised in the subject, which will be used by the publishers, with the latter remaining the final decision. Publication of papers is subject to compliance with its recommendations. The evaluation takes into account the originality of the treatment of the theme, the consistency and rigor of the approach, its contribution and its adequacy to the journal's thematic line.

The review system is double-blind: the names of the reviewers will remain confidential and the names of the authors before the reviewers will also be omitted.

Evaluators are expected to be objective in their assessment. If there is any conflict of interest or difficulty in making a judgment without significant influence from external factors, they should contact the editors. They are expected to indicate relevant literature if not accepted in the text. The text and other information provided in the evaluation process should be treated confidentially and may not be used for any other purpose.
