Abstract

This article intends to contextualize the dwelling policy, specifically at Restinga Seca-RS town hall, having as its major objective to verify which are the reasons for the insolvency of the families that have acquired their residences through public power. From interviews and information analysis, it can be concluded that relevant factors to insolvency of the families included in the referred Program are: low household income of the majority of people (up to a minimum wage), lack of conscience in relation to the Program that is originated from a public institution, and unfamiliarity with the dwelling policy adopted by the town hall. It is noticed that the work of a social assistant in the context of this social politics is of great importance in the perspective of valorisation and recovery of citizenship, thus guaranteeing that this policy be a right and a duty which gives the population dwelling conditions and life quality.
Key words – Dwelling politics. Insolvency. Social Service.
