State and food security: reaching and limits of public policies in Brazil
Abstract
This paperwork intends to assemble elements to enhance the comprehension of the current discussion about the Food Security, which became a global challenge since the Roma’s Declaration in 1996. It also presents brief conceptual aspects and historical aspects, as well the composition of the concept that has gained new elements besides of its original idea, derived from the idea of supply. Moreover, data from last PNAD (2004) about the Food Security in Brazil are shown, emphasizing the impact of a lacking of Food Security, whose more serious expression is hunger.Key words – State.
