Abstract

Profound changes related to the world of work have been occurring since the end of the twentieth century. These transformations in the productive processes generate a replacement of workers by the capital. The present time demands the creation of alternatives of job and income generation for those people that are excluded or out of the formal labor market as a source of subsistence. The solidary popular economy experiences are made possible through the work cooperatives or associations. A consistent public policy framework is necessary to promote the development of these collective enterprises. The social work is one of the professions that can contribute to these collective experiences.
Key words – Third industrial revolution. Solidary popular economy. Social work.
