Shelters for adolescents: a social place for protection and development of beings?
Abstract
This article about the indiscriminate use of the shelter and protection measure for adolescents, who are in a situation of social vulnerability in the city of Santa Maria. This shows the difficulties in the transition from the old guidelines in the policy of assistance to the child and the adolescent to the one designated by the ECA– Statute of the Child and the Adolescent. It suggests a wide debate and an urgent review with all the ones involved in the process of guiding and acceptance of these adolescents in the city shelters. Those would be effective social spaces of protection for those that are in need of support apart from the family and community context.Key-words – Shelter and protection measure for adolescents.
