In this paper we begin by defining what means about tale. The article briefly reflects on the concept of this kind of narrative. It aims to elaborate a view taking the irony in the tales “The old woman” and “A ear” by Teolinda Gersão as a conducting wire. In this tales the portuguese writer’ imaginary is interlaced by irony and provided by the desire to face the human reality trespassing against conventions. The conflict in the Gersão’ narrative settles down between the fantasy and the reality. At last this article will analyze the correspondence between the old woman and Isaura and comments about the oldness, the death, the helplessness and the performance.Downloads
