Abstract

The trading of certified emission reduction through carbon markets is proving a very effective tool for mitigating global warming and climate change, that threatening the survival of humanity on the planet. This study aimed to present the current picture of the marketing of carbon credits and their relationship to economic and social aspects through a survey of data found in literature. The increase in emission levels of greenhouse gases in recent years is worrying, despite the efforts taken by major economies. It is necessary a greater consensus among nations, and an appropriate regulation to allow greater participation of stakeholders, so that the problem of global warming does not get an irreparable condition.
