Abstract

This research aims to evaluate the influence of diversity attributes for students’ relationship and academic performance in a Brazilian private university. Brazil has adopting government policies that focuses on including people with low financial opportunities and African origin, increasing the access to a high education and also the diversity in this context. Most references dealing with similar issues of diversity impacts are from US universities and it is mostly focused on ethnic and racial attributes. This study intends to
explore also behavioral attributes (values, religion, sexual preferences and income). Using a qualitative and quantitative research method this work explores the way those attributes affects academic performance and the qualitative data justifies the answers. Research results shows that the demographic heterogeneity affects leisure habits and sexual preferences bias.
