Abstract

Introduction: Patient care is complex and challenging. The multidisciplinary care becomes extremely important when we try to give the best possible care to our patients.

Objective: To search and analyze evidence available in the literature on interdisciplinary care services in urgent and emergency services.

Materials and Methods: An integrative review. The search occurred in Pubmed, Web of Science, LILACS and SciELO, being selected 15 relevant articles published between the years 1999 and 2012. Data analysis was established through synoptic that reported the concepts of interdisciplinarity, type of study, professionals involved, among other issues addressed in the articles, such as communication and leadership.

Results: Were included 15 articles in this review, eight observational, six experimental and one quasi-experimental. The United States was the country with the highest number of publications, with six studies (40%). Considering the authors of the articles, doctors and nurses were professionals who produced more studies in the interdisciplinary field services and emergency and were key professionals in this context.

Conclusions: The interdisciplinary theme is important in emergency room, but there is still difficulty in conceptualizing the theme and concrete actions are still rare in the context of emergency care.
