State and sovereignty in the perspective of regional integration

Abstract

This research discuss the necessity of reevaluating the State model conceived by modernity and its fundamental attributes, with special attention to the sovereignty element, in face of the demands presented by the globalization and regional integration phenomenon. It aims analyzing, comparatively, the main contextual elements and structural modifications that constitute the contemporary system of social relations in order to stress out some of the tendencies involving the conception of a possible new State model from the scenario of uncertainties characteristic of the present period of transition.
