The process of performance evaluation from the vision of the area evaluated: a study of the perception of employes of the Federal University of Santa Catarina

In public administration it is verified the worry in improving the human management, which aims at a better organizational performance and a quality of the public services. In general, the management has been valued the individual performance, with actions in professional and personal development of their groups. One of the more complex people administration process is the performance evaluation, as a resource to improve the management practice in public sectors. This article presents the perception of public servants of the Federal University of Santa Catarina about the performance evaluation process that started in 1991. It is a case descriptive study with qualitative approach, in which the researchers are public servants from a sector of the referred university. The data were collected by documental and bibliographic studies and by questionnaire, and analyzed in a descriptive way. The results demonstrated the perception of the research subjects in relation to method and types of DA, and feelings and vision of the area involved in the process. It was observed the necessity to innovate the evaluation instrument that was adopted in the organization as a demand to pay attention to the university community expectations by a participative method, which aims at improving the public service offered to people.
