Abstract
Abstract
The objective of the paper is to analyze the influence of management practices in the organization’s life cycle stage of development. A four stage theoretical model was developed for each stage of development: (1) early stage, (2) growth, (3) mature and (4) renovation. A qualitative/descriptive methodological approach was used. The research strategy was the case study. The object of the study was a medium size family owned company that is in its fourth generation of family managers. The results demonstrate that the transitions from one stage to another were characterized by a change of the main executive. The implementation of new management practices based in a structured management model in the last stage enabled the entrance in a new stage of cycle, even when the main executive was changed. The results of the studies present some evidence that a change in the management practices may influence the organizational life cycle, avoiding the decline of the organization or even the end of this process.
Key words – Life cycle. Management practices. Change organizational.
