O Ensino de Economia na UFRGS
Abstract
Este artigo trata do ensino de Economia na Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Analisa-se, inicialmente, como os cursos de Economia (graduação e pósgraduação) da Faculdade de Ciências Econômicas (FCE) da referida universidade foram sendo estruturados ao longo do tempo, desde sua origem, em 1909, quando tiveram início os cursos de nível médio e superior da então Escola de Comércio de Porto Alegre. Destaca-se, a seguir, a importância do Centro de Estudos e Pesquisas Econômicas, criado em 1953, para o desenvolvimento da pesquisa e o surgimento dos cursos de pós-graduação em Economia da UFRGS, bem como o impacto da criação desses cursos nas décadas de 1960 e 1970. O artigo está organizado em duas partes: Antecedentes históricos, em que são apresentadas a origem, evolução e principais mudanças ocorridas nos cursos de graduação e pós-graduação e na pesquisa; e Período recente, que trata da situação atual do ensino de Economia na UFRGS e das demais atividades acadêmicas a ele relacionadas.

Abstract
This paper concerns the teaching of Economics at Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Initially it analyzes how the Economics teaching (graduate and post-graduate degrees) at “Faculdade de Ciências Econômicas” (FCE) – the School of Economics – was structured along the time and since its creation in 1909, when the high school level course and the college level course at “Escola de Comércio de Porto Alegre” - Scholl of Commerce – started to operate. Next, it focuses on the importance of the “Centro de Estudos e Pesquisas Econômicas” (IEPE) – Center for Economic Studies and Research – created in 1953, for the development of research, and also the post-graduate degree courses that were created at FCE/UFRGS, as well as the impact of the creation of post-graduate degree courses in the 1960 e 1970. This paper is divided in two sections: Historical background, where the origin, evolution and main changes that occurred regarding graduate and post-graduate degrees courses are presented, and Current period, where the present situation of the teaching of Economics at FCE/UFRGS and the related academic activities are analyzed.
