Parks of Industrial Ecology: organizational ecoinnovation for regional sustainable development
Keywords:
Industrial ecology. Ecoinnovation. Sustainable development.Abstract
The traditional model of regional development based on industrial park, has
been questioned by several authors because of possible problems related to industrial concentration and the environmental damage caused by activities. In this sense, the industrial ecology and its variations, among these, the industrial symbiosis, presented as an alternative approach to the traditional industrial parks. That paper promotes discussion of categories and levels of implementation of innovations with low environmental impact in order to reduce the deleterious effects of society on the environment – eco-innovation. It is intended to present an overview of the concept of industrial ecology and expanding their practices with the development of Industrial Ecology Parks worldwide. We conducted an exploratory and descriptive, which resulted in a final overview of the diffusion of innovative practices in industrial ecology in enterprises established in the Industrial Parks.
