Work and Recognition: analysis of the working conditions and recognition in the Dental Clinic “X”, in Porto Alegre, in 2009

Abstract

This article is the result of an empirical research realized in a dental clinic located in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, in 2009. We intend to expose here an analysis about the social integration forms and working conditions that can be found at that work environment. To this extent were used mainly the Axel Honneth’s recognition theory and Christophe Dejours’ analysis about “A banalização da injustiça social”. It was possible to recognize through this analysis the forms of suffering, disrespect, and lack of recognition in the prescribed environment, and the arising of social conflicts due to the form of work organization.
