Abstract

The review aims to elucidate the main aspects of the book
Digital Sociology: a brief introduction, by Leonardo Nascimento. In writing it, the author proposes to revisit and present a series of debates about the use of technology, the internet and digital media as a focus of sociology, as well as the tensions and possibilities of the existence of the field of
digital sociology and what the “digital” that accompanies the name of this new field of sociological studies and reflections means.

João Pedro Theves, Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.

Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences from UFRGS. Scholarship holder for Technical Support to Research 1A of the project “Security in Brazil: conceptions and dilemmas” linked to INCT - Violence, Power and Public Security (INVIPS/CNPq). Member of the Violence and Citizenship Research Group.
