Abstract

This article examines The Neoliberal Diet: Healthy Profits, Unhealthy People, by Gerardo Otero, which explores how neoliberalism shapes global food systems and exacerbates health inequalities. The author argues that obesity and food insecurity are structural outcomes of a food regime driven by biotechnology, state neoregulation, and corporate agribusiness power. The book advocates for political alternatives grounded in state intervention and grassroots mobilization.
