NOTE ON THE BIOLOGY OF Deltochilum (Calhyboma) elevatum (CASTELNAU) (COLEOPTERA: SCARABAEIDAE)
Keywords:

The Scarabaeidae family groups detritivorous insects, which help in the removal and re-entry of feces, carcasses and rotten fruit in the cycle of nutrients. Canthonini is one of the oldest and more diverse tribes of Scarabaeidae, and has species with different ecological niches, which are distributed throughout the Neotropical region. The genus Deltochilum Eschscholtz, 1822, has about 80 Neotropical species, mostly copro-necrophagous, associated with forest habitats. In this genre, Deltochilum (Calhyboma) elevatum (Castelnau, 1840) is a species considered rare in scientific collections and that has limited information on its biology. The aim of this study is to disseminate and discuss aspects of the biology of this species.Downloads
