Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present the results of a research conducted with women visiting partners and children held at prisons in Rio Grande do Sul. Through the reports of the interviewed, we seek to identify the violations suffered by these women, how is your relationship with the prison and society and what the resulting interference in their lives. Through an exchange of Law and Social Sciences, we intend to draw the radius of interference penalty by projection, beyond the physical boundaries of the prison, able to reach the households of prisoners. The gender approach, this work aims to reveal the perceptions that mothers and sisters of convicts have on the prison and how it ends up extending to the family context.
To develop this study, we rely on qualitative methods such as interviews and direct observation, in addition to the literature on gender and incarceration.

Author Biography

Andréa Ana do Nascimento, Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul

Andréa Ana do Nascimento é doutora em sociologia pela Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro e mestre em sociologia e antropologia pela mesma universidade. É especialista em Políticas Públicas de Justiça Criminal e Segurança Pública pela Universidade Federal Fluminense. Possui bacharelado e licenciatura em Ciências Sociais. Atualmente realiza estágio de pós – doutorado no Programa de Pós- Graduação em Ciências Sociais da Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (PPGCS/PUCRS) sendo integrante do grupo de Pesquisa em Políticas Públicas de Segurança e Administração da Justiça Penal (GPESC). Pesquisa a modernização das instituições policiais com o projeto apoiado pela CAPES: “Modernização das Instituições Policiais: um estudo comparado entre Brasil e Argentina.” É pesquisadora do Grupo Interdisciplinar de Trabalho e Estudos Criminais - Penitenciários (GITEP), na Universidade Católica de Pelotas. Foi professora de sociologia na rede estadual do Rio Grande do Sul entre 2012 e 2014, onde atuou também como coordenadora pedagógica do ensino médio e orientadora de estudos do Pacto Nacional do Ensino Médio. Atuou como professora substituta na Universidade Estadual do Rio de Janeiro no curso de licenciatura em Ciências Sociais.
