Lessons for the control of corruption in Brazil

Apesar do interesse e da reconhecida importância do tema, a corrupção não tem sido tratada com frequência no meio acadêmico, visto que a produção científica na área é escassa. De um lado tem-se a percepção popular que vê o controle da corrupção como fundamental para o desenvolvimento da sociedade brasileira, de outro, tem-se uma academia inerte, que pouco contribui intelectualmente no aperfeiçoamento dos mecanismos de controle do fenômeno. Neste cenário, faz-se necessária a apresentação de uma obra clássica sobre o tema, “A Corrupção sob Controle” (Controlling Corruption) de Robert Klitgaard, de modo a introduzi-la a novos leitores. Apesar de não se tratar de uma obra jurídica, seus ensinamentos e discussões apresentadas podem ser úteis para novas pesquisas fundamentadas na ciência do direito que possuem como objetivo enfrentar o problema da corrupção.
