Abstract

The legal cooperation in criminal matters has been growing in recent years based on the development of international treaties, constitution of internal bodies and the emergence of mechanisms to accomplish the requested action. Although cooperation is a reality in the 21st century, it is a developing new institution, field that requires an analysis of its origin until the current perspectives. The paper examines the main international treaties which contemplate the theme, emphasizing the historical context that led to the creation of these instruments, which would revolutionize the international legal cooperation in criminal matters.
