Abstract

Criminology has under gone a paradigm shift, from the 60s, when it left the consensual model, adopting a critical and self-referential, in that the punitive system it self became an object of research priority of the criminologist. This study presents some considerations regarding this new criminological model, relating it to the collapse of the State of social welfare, which was linked to the functionalist criminology and etiological, and the politicization of criminological knowledge, which stops be merely descriptive to become purposeful.
