Analysis of racial prejudice on white children about 5 up to 8 years old

Abstract

The central aim of this work was to analyse the racial prejudice in children. Participated this study 19 children from the countryside of Sergipe state, 11 boys (57,9%) and 8 girls (42,1%) (age of 5 up to 8 years old). The children were requested to drow two children: an white child and a black child. Through wich the children asked questions about choices and preferences in terms of five cathegories: riches, beaulty, intelligence, proximity and contact. The results reveled high level of prejudice. The black child was so rejected. Children about seven and eight years old presented higher level of prejudice. The discussion sugest that effect of equality social norm just apear about over eight years old.
