**********************************************************************************

A wonderful short story writer – viscerality and enchantment in the fiction of Maria João Cantinho

Abstract: The modern narrative´s tematic or formal attempts of inovation threatened the literary fiction of a digress from its own nature – the narrativity. Pressured by newspapers and magazines´s seduction, and by the cyberspace´s limits, the short story decreased to one page, one paragraph, one sentence or one line, in some extreme cases. It´s a post-modernity´s tipic superficiality. While happened this to literary narrative, some others new speces (as the comics, the radiophinic, the cinematographic, the televised and the video) occupied the space neglected by the Literature, through some vehicles more “functional” than the book. In her two first reunions of short stories, MJC takes back the narrativity at a high level, with an always unusual and developped story, that is narrated through a poetic and philosophic language, making the fiction return to its authentic nature.

Keywords: Narrativity; Crisis; Short story; Post-modernity
ER -
