The poem’s analysis reveals the author’s sense of </span></span><span style="font-family: TimesNewRomanPSMT; font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: TimesNewRomanPSMT; font-size: x-small;">stability as well as the simetry of composition, principles of classicism in art, as characteristics </span></span><span style="font-family: TimesNewRomanPSMT; font-size: x-small;"><span style="font-family: TimesNewRomanPSMT; font-size: x-small;">of Machado de Assis as a poet, especially in comparison with the romantic poets of his time.
