This issue becomes relevant in a context in which the term participation is being used deprived of its political meaning, and its usage in Social Services seems to have been trivialized. Through the study of the literature and laws on the profession of social worker, we identified the political, theoretical and institutional bases, which, along the trajectory of this profession, have allowed the political organization of the category and the inclusion in the participation of political and social rights.

Keywords – Participation.
