The memories, the romance and the reading process

Just as literary narrative is invariable limited, so are the reading paths. They are tied to the reader’s moors and his/her memories and to the text. In this paper some of the aspects of the romance of memories Leite derramado (2009), by Chico Buarque, are analyzed. Inferential qualitative assessments are performed, taking into account not only the narrative construction of the romance but also the challenges this kind of reading imposes to the reader’s memory. In Leite derramado, Eulálio, a centenary men who is living in a hospital or in some kind of home for elderly, tells the reader his life focusing on Matilde, his wife who is gone.
