Neoplasias malignas de glândulas salivares – estudo retrospectivo
Abstract
Este trabalho objetivou identificar a ocorrência de neoplasias malignas em glândulas salivares de pacientes dos hospitais de referência no tratamento de Câncer do Estado da Paraíba no período de 1998 a 2003. Foi realizado um estudo retrospectivo pelo método indireto, através da análise de 914 prontuários arquivados do Hospital Dr. Napoleão Laureano, em João Pessoa-PB, e do Centro de Cancerologia Ulisses Pinto, em Campina Grande-PB. Encontrou-se 29 casos de neoplasias malignas de glândulas salivares, dos quais 53,6% acometeram indivíduos do gênero masculino e 46,4% do feminino; a faixa etária com maior número de casos foi de 61-80 anos com 48,3%. A glândula parótida apresentou maior prevalência com 48,3%, sendo o tipo neoplásico com maior representação da amostra o Carcinoma adenóide cístico com 58,6%.

SUMMARY
This work aimed to identify the occurrence of malignant neoplasms in salivary glands of patients of the Oncology hospitals at Paraiba during the period from 1998 to 2003. A retrospective study was accomplished by the indirect method, through the analysis of 914 filed prontuaries of the Hospital Dr. Napoleão Laureano, in João Pessoa-PB, and of the Center of Cancerologia Ulisses Pinto, in Campina Grande-PB. It was identified 29 cases of neoplasms of salivary glands, of the which 53,6% attacked individuals of the masculine gender and 46,4% were of the feminine; the age group with larger number of cases was 61-80 years with 48,3%. The parotid’s gland presented larger prevalence with 48,3%, being the neoplasic type with larger representation of the sample the Carcinoma Adenoid Cystic with 58,6%.
