This study evaluated the disinfection of radiographic films contaminated in the mouth of seven patients who volunteered to take part. The solutions tested were 1% sodium hypochlorite and 70% alcohol, in immersion for 3 minutes and rubbed for 30 seconds and also immersion in 2% glutaraldehyde for 3 minutes. After desinfection the impression of the films was performed on plates containing BHI agar medium enriched with 1% vitamin K-hemin. The plates were incubated and the evaluation was conducted by observing the presence or absence of bacterial colonies growth. It was observed a wide bacterial growth in the control plates that had not been treated with the desinfectant solutions, which did not occur in the experimental groups. It was concluded that all solutions tested through the different periods and methods did promote the desinfection of the radiographic films.
UNITERMS: disinfection solutions; radiographic film.
