Ensino da odontogeriatria nas faculdades de odontologia do sul e centro-oeste do brasil: situação atual e perspectivas
Abstract
Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo levantar a situação do ensino da Odontologia Geriátrica nas faculdades de Odontologia do Sul e Centro-Oeste brasileiro. O Universo foi constituído pelas 24 escolas das regiões e constantes da relação do INEP/2001, como forma de se garantir que apenas participassem do estudo alunos, de fato, do último ano ou período do curso. Além dos estudantes, participaram os coordenadores dos cursos. Para cálculo da amostra (aleatória estratificada), adotou-se um intervalo de confiança de 95% e erro máximo admissível de 5%. Para coleta dos dados, dois questionários foram elaborados, cada qual com questões do tipo fechada e mista. O teste de Qui-quadrado de Pearson foi utilizado para análise inferencial com a finalidade de verificar a existência de relação entre as variáveis dependentes e independentes estabelecidas para o estudo. Dos dezoito cursos de Odontologia pesquisados sete mantém o ensino da Odontogeriatria no currículo. Dentre os 478 alunos participantes da pesquisa, 47,1% procuram o conhecimento fora da faculdade, a maioria em congressos; 28,9% preferem trabalhar com idosos e 97,5% acham importante a inclusão da disciplina no currículo. Houve significância (p < 0,05) entre a preferência e a perspectiva do aluno em trabalhar com idosos e a presença do tema no currículo, assim como na participação do aluno em levantamento epidemiológico e ação de saúde bucal. A Odontogeriatria está ausente do currículo em dois terços dos cursos de Odontologia pesquisados, é expressiva a preferência e a perspectiva do concluinte em trabalhar na área objeto da pesquisa.

SUMMARY
To research had as objective to raise the situation of the teaching of Dentistry Geriatric in the Brazilian south and western. It constituted research of the 24 existent schools in the area and constant of the relationship of the INEP/2001; being such relationship adopted as form of guaranteeing that they just participated of the study students, in fact, of the last semester. Besides the students, they participated of the research the coordinators of the courses. To calculate the sample (aleatory stratified), a significance interval of 95% was adopted and I miss acceptable maximum of 5%. For collect the data two questionnaires were elaborated; neseach one of the instruments with subjects of the closed type and mixed. The test of QuiSquare of Pearson was used for inferencial analysis with the purpose of verifying the relationship between the dependent and independent variables established for the study. 18 colleges were asked and only 06 of them offer this course Dentistry Geriatric. Among 478 students who participated in this research, 47,1% search the knowledgement outside the college, as a mother of fact, most of them reach it, when this participation in congress. 23,8% would rather working whit elderly. 97,5% says that is very important to have this subject included in the curriculum. There was relevance (p < 0,05) among the student’s preference in working with elderly and the wen participation in epidemiological rising, action of the oral health. The Geriatric Dentistry, don’t appear in two thirds of the investigated Odontology courses curriculum; it is expressive the conclusive preference and perspective of working in the research object area.
