Personalidade materna e resultados de crianças no psicodiagnóstico interventivo: o que significa ‘mãe suficientemente boa’?

A noção de ‘mãe suficientemente boa’, essencial na indicação terapêutica e prognóstica da criança, é cercada por ambigüidades, por exemplo, a disparidade entre as características atribuídas a uma genitora nessas condições e os sucessos reportados por Winnicott na Consulta Terapêutica, de pacientes cujas mães eram deprimidas. A necessidade de definição desse conceito em bases empíricas justificou a execução desta pesquisa, em que seis mães cujos filhos apresentavam comportamentos anti-sociais foram avaliadas pelo Teste de Rorschach, contrapondo-se seus resultados com o sucesso ou fracasso terapêutico deles no Psicodiagnóstico Interventivo. Uma vez que a ‘mãe suficientemente boa’ é aquela que sustenta a melhora da criança, os resultados indicaram que as características maternas associadas ao sucesso do filho consistiram na ausência de prejuízos severos no Controle Pulsional e nos Relacionamentos Interpessoais. Assim, não é necessário que a mãe apresente um funcionamento egóico na plenitude de suas condições para ser classificada nessa categoria.

ABSTRACT

Maternal personality and children’s results on the interventive psychodiagnosis: What is the meaning of ‘good-enough mother’?
The notion of ‘good-enough mother’, essential to children’s therapeutic and prognostic indication, is full of ambiguities e.g. the disparity between the characteristics ascribed to a parent in such conditions and the success on the Therapeutic Consultations of patients whose mothers were depressed, as it was reported by Winnicott. The necessity of defining this concept on empirical data foundations justified this research in which six mothers whose children presented anti-social behaviour were assessed by Rorschach Test, comparing their results with the therapeutic success or failure of their infants in the Interventive Psychodiagnosis. Considering that the ‘good-enough mother’ is that one who supports children’s improvement, the results indicated that maternal characteristics linked to children’s success consisted in absence of severe handicaps on the Control of the Impulses and on the Interpersonal Relationships. Therefore, it is not necessary for a mother to have an ego functioning in its plenitude to be classified in this category.
