Abstract
SUMMARY
The present study aimed to determine ceo/CPO-D indexes in 05 to 14 years old students of public teaching schools of Morrinhos do Sul district (RS), due to evaluate if fluoride levels founded in natural water sources consumed by the population were in suitable levels to prevent caries. The ceo average index from 05 to 06 years old was 5,47 (N = 36). The CPO-D average index founded from 07 to 11 years-old and 12 years old were, respectively: 3,38 (N = 132) and 7,44 (N = 09). The fluoride levels average founded in five different sources of natural water was 0,13 mg/l. We found out that CPO-D index evaluated showed an increasing value comparatively that commended by OMS for 12 years-old. Moreover, we verified reduced fluoride levels in the wells to cause prevention of caries.
UNITERMS: caries; epidemiological investigation; fluoride levels.
