Resumo

Neste trabalho a relação entre classe social e educação é discutida e uma definição complexa de classe social baseada não só no rendimento, mas usando vários critérios, tais como as questões sociais e culturais, geográficas e outros aspectos que interagem com os presentes escola. Embora a meta da escolarização nos Estados Unidos tem sido de que esta instituição para proporcionar a igualdade de oportunidades, neste artigo vamos discutir a oportunidade não é igual e como esta meta tende a se concentrar em aspectos individuais e não nos aspectos coletivos, estrutural e institucional, que realmente enquadrar as diferentes condições sobre a questão da classe social. Ele também aborda como escolaridade, no caso dos Estados Unidos trabalha para manter a ordem social hegemônica para perpetuar o mito da meritocracia. Ele questiona como o currículo e pedagogia exercer uma relação significativa na estrutura de classe social.
