ASPECTOS BIOLÓGICOS E MORFOLÓGICOS DE Marpesia petreus (LEPIDOPTERA, NYMPHALIDAE, LIMENITIDINAE)

Abstract
Foi caracterizado o ciclo de desenvolvimento da borboleta Marpesia petreus (Cramer, 1776), usando Ficus pumila (Moraceae) como planta hospedeira. A espécie possui ampla distribuição geográfica ocorrendo desde o Sul dos EUA até a Argentina. Foram documentadas as fases de ovo, lagarta e crisálida, incluindo dados morfométricos e padrões de comportamento.

Biological and morphological aspects of Marpesia petreus (Lepidoptera, Nymphalidae, Limenitidinae)
The development cycle of the butterfly Marpesia petreus (Cramer, 1776) was characterized, by using Ficus pumila (Moraceae) as host plant. This species has large geographical distribution, occurring from South EUA to Argentina. The egg, larva and pupa phases were documented with morphometrical data and behavior pattern.
